Wonder Woman Quotes For Empowerment (and a few just for fun!)

Queen Hippolyta: You know that if you choose to leave, you may never return.

Diana Prince: Who will I be if I stay?

Reading this quote brings tears to my eyes. It makes me think of the moment I chose to leave a life I knew no longer served me. It was terrifying. I loved where I was living and the work I was doing, but I knew it wasn’t my highest path. I knew if I chose to leave, I might never return. But I also knew if I didn’t, I may never experience the growth and change I desired for myself in this life.

We all come to these moments. Like the “Should I Stay or Should I Go” scene in Stranger Things. While we may not be running away from the Demogorgan, it can be an equally stressful (okay, maybe slightly less stressful than trying to escape the Upside Down) to decide whether to stay or leave when you’re at a crossroads in your life.

But that’s where another favorite quote of mine from Wonder Woman comes in handy:

Antiope: You are stronger than you believe. You have greater powers than you know.

While we may not be literal demigods with the ability to jump three stories and blast force fields from our pretty arm plates (technically called the Bracelets of Submission, which have an awesome history you can read about here) , we do have more power than we know. We often play small and trick ourselves into thinking that’s all we can do.

When I was growing up I was told I couldn’t follow the path I wanted to (music and art) because I needed a “real” career. However, the people who followed their hearts' calling despite receiving similar messages demonstrate this truth that lies within all of us...the only difference is that they knew the truth of this quote. You must embrace your inner power and just honor that it truly is greater than anything you can imagine. Just trust in it!

And what’s even more important is to recognize that strength and power have nothing to do with being the best at what you feel like you’re “supposed” to be the best at.

For example, when Charlie is questioning if he’s needed for a specific mission (I’m being intentionally vague to make this spoiler-free, if you’ve already seen it and want a very interesting take on Charlie, read this article here),

Charlie asks: Maybe you're better off without me, yeah?

Diana smiles and replies: No, Charlie. Who will sing for us?

because she recognizes the strength and beauty in all. He may have felt he was “supposed” to be a certain way but when we let those “supposed to’s” go out the window, we can relax and just be strong in being who we are. You’re not supposed to be any way besides yourself. There are gifts that all of us have to give Wonder Woman sees that and honors it, just as we should!

And when you’re able to stand in your own strength of just being who you are unapologetically with a heart wide open, you can be of the greatest service to this world. When you live in a state of standing in your power and honoring your truth, you are trusting in a loving Universe and showing yourself the deepest compassion and self-love. This is the greatest strength of all. This uplifts the whole planet.

Diana: It's about what you believe. And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world.

And if you want to save the world you have to start with yourself. A favorite Gabby Bernstein quote (another Wonder Woman in my opinion) is “your purpose is to heal your mind.” Every thought we have can either uplift the planet or add pollution. If you want to be a champion for the world and for others you must start with yourself. Learn to love yourself fully first so you can begin to see the oneness within you and all of creation. There’s always going to be Ego stepping in and creating fearful illusions in our thoughts and emotions, but we have a power greater than we know to be able to choose again. And we must make the choice everyday to choose love.

Diana: I used to want to save the world. To end war and bring peace to mankind. But then, I glimpsed the darkness that lives within their light. I learned that inside every one of them, there will always be both. The choice each must make for themselves - something no hero will ever defeat. And now I know... that only love can truly save the world. So I stay. I fight, and I give... for the world I know can be. This is my mission now. Forever.

Every time we choose love over darkness, we are our own hero.

Okay, just for fun, here are some more of my favorite quotes because I LOVE reminiscing about this movie! I’m already considering some Halloween costumes...

When Diana asks Steve what his watch is:

Steve: It's a watch, it tells time. My father gave it to me. Been through hell and back with him, now it's with me. And good thing it's still ticking.
Diana: What for?
Steve: Because it tells time. When to eat, sleep, wake up, work.
Diana:You let this little thing tell you what to do?

When Diana asks Steve why he would go back to fight the war...

Steve: My father told me once, "If you see something wrong happening in the world, you can either do nothing or you can do something." And I already tried nothing.

When Wonder Woman is ready to do why no man ever thought could be done (this scene had me sobbing in a feeling of empowerment)….

Diana: I'm willing to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
